Gown & Glaze respects the personal information you share when exploring our cakes, contacting our team, or planning a celebration. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information through www.gownandglaze.com and our related cake design, consultation, and ordering services.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
This website is operated by Gown & Glaze (“Gown & Glaze,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a custom wedding cake studio serving San Diego, Orange County, and Los Angeles.
For privacy questions or requests, please contact us:
- Email: hello@gownandglaze.com

2. Information you provide
Inquiries. Our contact form asks for your name and email address. You may also choose to provide a telephone number, your region, the service you are interested in, a message, and inspiration photographs of a gown or cake. Information you include in messages and uploads becomes part of your inquiry.
Consultations, tastings, and orders. When you plan a cake with us, we may collect details such as your event date, venue and delivery information, estimated guest count, design references, flavor choices, dietary requests or allergies you tell us about, the contact details of your planner or venue coordinator if you ask us to work with them, quotations, order agreements, invoices, and our correspondence with you.
Payments. Our website does not process online payments, and we do not collect payment-card details through the website. Payment arrangements for confirmed orders are made directly with our team using the methods described in your proposal or order agreement. Please do not send card details through our inquiry form or by email.
Accounts. We do not currently offer customer accounts or online ordering through the website.
Please share only information relevant to your request. If an inspiration image includes another person, please share it only when you have their permission.
3. Information collected through the website
When you visit our website, our servers and the services we use may automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, the date and time of your visit, the page that referred you to us, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
Our website uses the following third-party services, which may receive this kind of technical information when the relevant page or feature loads:
- Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use our website and to improve it.
- Google reCAPTCHA, to protect our forms from spam and abuse.
- Google Maps, to display our location.
- Google Fonts, to display the typefaces used on our website.
Google’s use of this information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your inquiry and discuss the services you request;
- arrange consultations and tastings;
- design, prepare, deliver, and set up your cake, including coordinating with your planner or venue when you ask us to;
- prepare quotations and order agreements, and manage payments and records for confirmed orders;
- take dietary requests and allergies you tell us about into account when discussing your order;
- understand and improve how our website performs;
- protect our website and forms against spam, fraud, and misuse; and
- keep business records and comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Providing a telephone number does not enroll you in marketing text messages. Reading this policy or submitting an inquiry is not consent to receive marketing.
5. Cookies, analytics, and tracking choices
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Our website uses:
- Necessary cookies, which help the website and its forms work securely, including cookies set by Google reCAPTCHA.
- Analytics cookies, set by Google Analytics, which help us understand how visitors use the website, for example which pages are visited and how long visits last.
We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the website work. You can also prevent Google Analytics from using your information by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common industry standard for these signals, our website does not currently respond to them. Third-party services on our website, such as Google, may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites in accordance with their own policies.
Sale and sharing of personal information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If this changes, we will update this policy and provide any opt-out choices required by law, including honoring Global Privacy Control signals where applicable.
6. When information is shared
We share personal information only as needed for the purposes described in this policy:
- Service providers who help us operate our business and website, such as website hosting, email, analytics, and spam-protection providers. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Your planner, venue, or other people you identify, when you ask us to coordinate with them, limited to the details needed for your order such as delivery timing, setup requirements, and contact information.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, where needed.
- Legal and safety reasons, when required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Gown & Glaze, our customers, or others.
- Business transfers, if our business is reorganized, sold, or transferred, in which case personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to this policy.
An inquiry about a gown or alterations is handled for that request only. We do not pass your inquiry to a separate business without telling you first.
7. Email, telephone, and text messages
We use the contact details you provide to discuss your inquiry or order and to send related service information, such as appointment confirmations, proposals, and delivery details.
We do not currently send marketing newsletters or run a marketing text-message program. If we introduce one, we will only send marketing messages with your consent, and every marketing email will include a way to unsubscribe. If you give us a mobile number, we may call or text you about your inquiry or order. You can ask us at any time to contact you by email only.
8. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy:
- Inquiries and uploaded images that do not lead to an order are kept for up to two years after our last contact with you.
- Order records, including quotations, agreements, invoices, and related correspondence, are kept for up to seven years after your event to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations.
- Website analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous. Copies in routine backups are deleted as those backups expire.
9. Protecting information
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to our website, restricted access to our website administration and business records, and regular software updates. No method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure. Please contact us if you believe information associated with your inquiry has been accessed without authorization.
10. Your privacy requests
You can contact us using the details in Section 1 to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate information; or
- ask us to delete your personal information.
We may ask for information needed to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will not ask for more than necessary. We aim to respond within 45 days. We may keep certain information where the law requires us to, for example records of completed orders. We will not treat you differently for making a privacy request.
11. Children’s privacy
Our website and services are intended for adults planning celebrations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our website. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it. If a cake request includes a child’s name or image, for example for a family celebration, please share it only as a parent or guardian, and we will use it only for that order.
12. Other websites
Our website links to other websites, including social media and map services. Their information practices are governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the current version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If we make material changes, we will place a notice on our website.
If you have questions about this policy, please contact us using the details in Section 1.
